Depression Warning Signs


Are you depressed?

The general warning signs of depression you'll read about on most sites include -

  • irritation, frustration, impatience
  • loss of caring and interest
  • indecisive and lack of clarity
  • distraction from your thoughts and feelings
  • avoid responsibility
  • self condemnation and self blame
  • eating disorders
  • unexplained physical problems - esp. in the stomach area
  • aches and pains
  • emotional pain
  • fatigue
  • powerlessness
  • guilt
  • loss of the will to live

But unfortunately most of these depression warning signs could just as easily be present in those who aren't depressed. You don't know.

Estimates vary widely, but it's possible that up to half of the population exhibits at least some of these characteristics. Many, many people are walking around today with mild depression symptoms.



If you do have some of these warning signs, what does it really mean?

I'm not a doctor, but I had almost every single one of these depression warning signs. And yes, I was depressed. I managed to heal myself 100%. Before I tell you how I did it, it's important to understand what depression is and isn't.

Pharmaceutical-backed web sites will tell you depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, even though there's never been one single shred of evidence to prove it.

More likely, depression causes the chemical imbalance, rather than the chemical imbalance causing the depression.

You could say people feel happy because of the endorphins released by the brain. But that only begs the question of why are the endorphins released? Is it genetic? Is it environmental? Or is it because the person wants to be happy? Or chooses to be happy?

Now, I'm not saying anyone wants to be depressed, or chooses depression. I'm just pointing out brain chemicals are a mechanism, not a precipitator. Cars don't stop at the intersection because the light turns red. Not really. They stop because the driver stepped on the brake.



I have my own theory of depression, and its enabled me and countless others to end their depression once and for all. Not only depression, but all emotional issues - all emotional pain - can be ended. The information, as well as a few guided meditations, are free. See, I've discovered that we all have an emotional wellspring inside us. Deep down, way down, somewhere in our solar plexus area, a flow of energy constantly and continuously bubbles up into us. There's a pathway of raw thought and raw feeling that flows into our consciousness.

But we've been taught and conditioned - almost since birth - that feelings are bad and wrong and we shouldn't have them. So we start restricting our flow at a very early age. We start shutting down our feelings.


And that's the first real depression warning sign.


I've learned over the years - both from my own life, and talking to others - that those who suffer from depression have serious and heavy stories about their feelings. Almost always. Think about it. What do feelings mean to you? What comes up as I mention the word?

Do you love your feelings? Do you jump out of bed, excited about what you might feel today? Are you intimate with what you feel?

If you answer with a resounding NO then that's another warning sign of depression.

You see, my experience has led me to believe that the more I let in all my feelings, the more alive I'll feel and the more powerful I'll feel. And when I don't let in my feelings, it always leads to pain and depression and various other unwanted emotional states.

Emotional pain is a serious warning sign of depression.

The pain comes from not letting our feelings into our heart. The pain also comes from the stories we tell ourselves about our feelings. These stories become like filters that block the flow of feelings.

But the feelings want to flow! And our heart wants to feel those feelings! If we create a separation, we absolutely will be in emotional pain. Then, all we'll feel is the pain - and we think we're feeling our feelings but really we're just feeling the filters that block our feelings.

So we shut off the flow of feelings ever more!

Which leads to more pain, and eventually depression. Depression could best be described as the absence of feelings. That's what depression is. Or that's my theory, anyway.

So the true depression warning sign could best be summed up by the question - what do you believe about your feelings?

The more you want to not feel your feelings, the greater the risk you'll end up depressed.

Alright, you see the problem. Now let's talk about the solution. Part of the problem with depression is the heavy weight you feel crushing down on you.
