"Hello to all: I must put my story on paper to let people know the effects of Effexor and how doctors will prescribe medications of antidepressants for anyone."

About 2 years ago my job took a severe turn in management, I was the only one left so I had to work constantly until we found some help. As you can guess I was feeling a little stress.

I consulted with my doctor and she asked me a few questions and the next thing you know I was on Effexor (75ml). I did not do any research on this drug, I took my qualified doctors suggestion.

After a few side effects: "Nightmares-tingling sensation in my hands, brain shivers and weight gain" I consulted my doctor and she told me to take up to 3 capsules per day (= 225ml), I decided against that and continued with 75ml.

Starting to feel very bad I consulted my doctor again and he (new doctor) bumped me to 150ml per day. Now I really am starting to notice a change in myself: Fatigued, starring into space, don't care attitude, brain shivers and nightmares.

I could not handle this anymore and told my doctor about it and he suggested to taper off it. I am now on my 7th day (November 20th 2007) and I am going through the withdraws (remember this is not suppose to be addictive): Constant Brain Shivers, Saddness, Fatigue, Nausea, Nightmares, Dizziness, Tinggling in the Hands.

When consulting my doctor today he got really defensive and short with me, almost like he knew I was not suppose to be on a medication that is used for "Severe Clinically Depressed People and/or People with Severe Anxiety" ---Remember I knew I was stressed from my job.

This medication has made me into a person whom I don't know. Before going on this medication I could not wait to get on the golf course, work in the yard, have cook outs and enjoy time away from work with my family. Now I don't have the energy or desire for anything.

HOW CAN A DOCTOR ASK A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS AND GIVE YOU SOMETHING THAT JUST TURNS YOU INTO SOMEONE YOU DON'T LIKE? THAT IS THE QUESTION..

I don't know if I have any rights in this issue: If anyone knows the law or has done something about this please let me know...
