Effexor xr has been FDA approved for -

• Panic Disorder
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder
• Social Anxiety Disorder

Which is somewhat ironic, considering so many patients who attempt to stop taking effexor report severe anxiety and panic symptoms. Sometimes much worse than they felt before starting effexor.

And both anxiety and panic are listed as side effects from taking effexor. (Even before withdrawal is attempted.)

Does effexor cause anxiety? I've been surprised by the number of people who've written me who argue it does.

I believe it doesn't.

I've received numerous emails from effexor users who swear they never had anxiety or panic before taking effexor.

I believe the anxiety or panic was simply waiting to come to the surface. Either way, the emails get a little disconcerting... as effexor users detail the depth of pain they claim is caused by the effexor xr they're taking.

In fact, most of the emails I receive from patients withdrawing from effexor xr say the anxiety is as bad or worse than the many other side effects they experience. Considering how intensely painful the physical symptoms of withdrawal can be - that's saying something.

Anxiety and panic disorders can be quite disabling by themselves. I used to crippled with anxiety... and the threat of another panic attack greatly influenced my lifestyle - limiting where I could go... limiting what I would allow myself to do.

So I can easily understand how someone would feel desperate enough to turn to drugs. Unfortunately, they never resolve the problem. At best, they hide the symptoms. For a while, anyway.

About half the users of effexor for anxiety and panic disorders receive some sort of symptomatic relief.

Effexor xr is an extremely potent mind-altering drug. (And a soon-to-be release derivative of it, called desvenlafaxine is said to even more potent.)

The fact that so many would resort to such a desperate measure of taking drugs demonstrate just how painful anxiety and panic disorders can be.

But there are alternatives that carry no risk at all.

You don’t have to suffer.
