Effexor Withdrawal
Effexor Withdrawal
I had been on Effexor for 4 years gradually increasing my dose to 150 mg and then gradually decreasing to a maintenance dose of 75mg. When I decided to stop taking it, my doctor prescribed 37.5 mg once a day for a week, every other day for the next week and then stopping altogether.
I am now on day 7 Effexor free and am still experiencing withdrawal. Amongst my symptoms are severe nauseau, exhaustion, chills, sweats, insomnia, dizziness, headache, severe and sudden mood swings, frequent and uncontrollable crying.
Added to these symptoms are the fact that I live with three emotionless zombie robots who lack any compassion or understanding. I must say though that when I jumped out of the shower yesterday and smashed the toilet tank into little bits after it ran causing the water in the shower to become scalding hot as I rinsed my face, my husband did decide to stay home and spend the afternoon with me instead of playing basketball. He is the only one who even begins to get it. My children (ages 13 and 17) are just disgusted and embarrassed and I feel like a complete loser.
I will NEVER take effexor again no matter how desperately depressed or anxious I become. Nothing could be any worse than this. The withdrawal just isn't worth it.
