Why Forgive?
Many people go through life without forgiving themselves for
anything.
“Why bother? It’s in the past - I got over it.”
And so they don’t.
It’s called denial:
“I don’t have a problem with that situation…
that event…
that bad habit…
that painful relationship…
that failure…
that lack of money…
that whatever.”
Many use denial and avoidance as a tool for coping with life.
The problem is, it’s like dragging a heavy weight along behind
you. Maybe you ‘got over’ it - but it didn’t get over you!
Many, if not most people, are dragging their past with them everywhere
they go.
It’s exhausting. It takes a lot of energy. It robs you of so much joy
now - when you hold onto an unresolved and unforgiving past.
