"I just read the information on Paxil and wish I had thought to research it.

I'm 58 and been on and off every anti-depressant since the age of 24. However, after Paxil (and Effexor) I will never take another SSRI again. It was hell trying to get off of the Paxil and getting off came by accident. I missed a few doses and had gone to my sister's for Thanksgiving. I never expected what was to happen.

I thought I was going to have to go to the ER. When they say "flu-like symptoms" they are not kidding. I ate nothing for 7 days, lost 10 lbs.

I could not keep down water.

And NOW I have some memory lapses, hesitancy in speech (always looking for a word) and some confusion. It's going away slowly. They say that Paxil "rearranges" your brain. Trust me. It does.

DON'T let a doctor convince you to begin. If you are on it, don't stop without lots of help and preparation first.
